Fly Away Home (58/365)
Where: Hudson River
When: Today
Yeah I know I said "no more!" but I happened to take this today, and I like it, so... ugh, and I'm so close to day 60! Maybe I can make it two more days, end on a round number or something... it's like a sickness, I swear.
Once again, compressing it to 710 on the long side ended up making this look darker and way more contrasty than I had intended, but I like it, so I'm keeping it. In addition to that, I did a tone curve adjustment and black clipping to up the contrast, and flipped it because I like the bird facing left.

Gwen, I just have to say, you have a really amazing gift. This is beautiful.
Well done. Every time I attempt a shot like this, I get too much glare or sun spots in the image. Your composition in this shot is wonderful.
This is another belter, the scene itself is good but the bird is the icing on the cake. Been playing with Photoshop? Matters not the results are what matter.
Thank you everyone! It was a glorious sunset, that's for sure.
Adrian, my husband accused me of photoshopping the bird in too!! No, I noticed the gulls were doing promising swoops in the right location, so I sat and waited for 10 minutes or so - Much to the dog's dismay. ;) - and also got lucky since they fly pretty fast so I had to click the shutter a little before they got to the right spot.
Must be a man thing... why sit outside when you can shoot a few birds and do the job in comfort!
Still impressive, cheers
Gwen,
I like that you, as an observer of behavior, stuck around for the critters to complete the image you had in your head.
Sometimes it seems that landscapes and sceneries seem "easy" or "photograph themselves," but you hunted for this shot!
At the other end of the creative spectrum, people do stuff like what's on: http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/
Keep doing what you're doing!!
