Hi Gwen,

You have a real knack with the backgrounds in your compositions in these short-depth-of-focus shots.

I'm always drawn--in a good way--to your backgrounds, which consistently balance very well in energy against the already well-composed "foreground" subject.

The backgrounds themselves each possess quite nice compositions of their own.

Can we say that this is your forte? Keep 'em coming!

I love how you used the depth of field for this shot. Well done!

Thanks Moy and Pixie!

Moy, I totally hear you about the backgrounds - it's always a fun surprise. While I've gotten better at seeing what will make particularly interesting backgrounds, and estimating which fstop will get me the effect I want, it's never totally predictable, and the camera playback never conveys quite what's going on, so I am kept in suspense until I can get to a computer.

I also have to thank you for reminding me about that aspect, as I went out with the camera that same day with backgrounds firmly in mind, and I'm really pleased with the results. So thanks for the inspiration!

About This Blog

This is my first blog attempt. It hasn't been kept up over the last year, for some reason being pregnant really ate into my creativity, and I picked up the camera very rarely. I am thinking about starting it up again, but am not sure what direction to take it in.
